There's no reason to do a forced restart unless you're having an issue that prevents you from doing a normal shutdown and restart. It probably won't hurt anything, though theoretically, if there's something that hasn't been saved, you could lose it. However, it won't do any more good than just shutting down.

I restart my iPhone when I do updates and that's about it. So, every couple of months at most. My phone runs fine.

It's ok, you can restart it as often as you like.
