Significant increase in battery drain of iPhone 16 Pro

Hello Apple Community.

I have had my iPhone 16 pro for about 4 days now and I have noticed a significant increase in battery drain.

My battery says it’s healthy with 100% capacity. However, normal use seems to absolutely kill the battery. I am struggling to get 4 hours out of a single charge. For example I used it to have a 30 min teams meeting today and lost 50% charge in that 30 min.

I have background app refresh turned off, auto lock on the screen, even manually turned the brightness down. Still no improvement. Any suggestions?

Factory reset the phone via your computer. Not via the cloud. I reset it via the cloud and it didn’t work. I hooked it up to my MacBook and factory reset it that way and voila! Amazing battery life now! Like 24 hr battery life!

Got the same problem as you guys. My iphone 13 promax before i traded in lasts all day long with only 86% battery health. But of course I did not update latest iOS on that one. I just bought my iPhone 16 pro 3 days ago, it was already installed ios18, its battery gone so fast. I used google maps to drive to my workplace, about 45’. 20% gone. Wtf was that. In a day just checking notification sometimes, sending some messages, 40% more gone. Just in 4- 5 hours something. Tried everything to solve this problem but no helps. Very disappointed about the new iOS or iPhone whatever and no solutions to fix this 😭😭😭. Thinking about trading it in and get the older model iPhone...

Same here. Upgraded from 13 pro to 16 pro. Battery is terrible. Been over 2 weeks to so it’s not indexing. My 13 pro lasted most of the day. I am getting 3-4 hrs max with 16 pro. I might watch a little YouTube and a few Facebook videos but most is just texting here and there and checking the news. No way I could make it through a whole day without AT LEAST one charge. Left it unplugged last night after charging to 100 and it had dropped to 80 in 6 hrs. Apparently due to “find my”. I have turned off always on and turned off all background app refresh. Ridiculous! Sure hoping it’s a software update issue and not hardware…

I am also having battery drainage issues with 16 pro max. This is worse than 13 pro max when it was new. Ive turned every setting off I could think of. There is a million nonsense settings too. Some buried in a setting of a setting. No one needs all these useless settings that we have no idea what it does either. Anyhow, still to no avail. Even airplane mode with wifi drains. If someone can figure out what setting is causing, we thank you.

Tried a backup, reset and reload. Seemed to work for a couple of days but, today it’s back to massive battery drain. Had to charge at 10:30am and had it on since 6. Nothing crazy. A few emails, and some teams chats. No difference in app use, no video, no recording. I can’t figure out what the difference is when the battery drains and when it didn’t drain as fast.

Super frustrating.

Further update:

seems whatever I have done with the reset and reload has made the battery angry.

6am this morning I took it off the charger at full charge. One teams meeting on audio with the screen off, hand full of texts and answered 3 emails. At 8:30 the phone was at 36%.

I can leave it on and watch the battery go down about 1% every 2-3 minutes now.

Battery health is good and Apple support said well the battery says it is healthy so, it’s good.

Im thinking within 6 months to a year of cycles at this rate and the phone will be a paperweight.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max used to last an entire day without a charge and that was 87% battery capacity. When it was brand new I could go two full days without a charge. My new 16 pro max, I have to charge twice a day. It’s unreal. I’ve turned off everything. Went to apple support Genius Bar and they said “well, it says healthy battery so there’s nothing we can do” beyond frustrating.
