2009 Imac 10,1 2x8 gb ram stick compatible?

On my 2009 10,1 20.5 inch Core Duo, two of the ram slots are not working. Is it possible to install 2 8gb ram sticks on the two slots that are functioning?

Incompatible crucial 32 GB RAM with iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) How do I upgrade to 32 GB in iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017? I purchased Crucial 32GB (2 X16) DDR4-2400 without success. According to OWC macsales.com, Yes the Late 2009 21.5" iMac can take 2 x 8GB modules.
