One contact with two numbers, which gets texts?

This is an unimportant quandary but I am wondering, when I set up a contact to have two phone numbers, and I send a text, which number gets it?

Currently how I got here, is that a company is sending me texts with two numbers. One of them I can reply to and chat and the other is just notifications. I am organizing things and combined both numbers into one contact. So now I wonder what happens when I send a text.

For contacts that have multiple numbers, you select the number to which the text will be sent when you create a new text. Enter in the contact name in the text address field, and if the number shown isn't the correct one, tap the arrow at the right of the contact name/number and you can select the other number.

If you're replying to a text you received, the reply will be sent to the number which sent the text, regardless of what the text itself may say.

Regards.
