How do I send a text to a specific person if the contact contains 4 numbers each belonging to a different person?

One contact with two numbers, which gets texts? This is an unimportant quandary but I am wondering, when I set up a contact to have two phone numbers, and I send a text, which number gets it? Currently how I got here, is that a company is sending me texts with two numbers. One of them I can reply to and chat and the other is just notifications. I am organizing things and combined both numbers into one contact. So now I wonder what happens when I send a text.
