Wireless headphones not connecting through bluetooth on my Macbook Air

I have some Sony headphones and lately I haven't been able to connect them to my Macbook Air. I got this Mac this year and when I first coonected my headphones through bluetooth it worked perfectly! It also connects perfectly with my Iphone. I don't know what the problem could be. It just stopped working out of nowhere.

Since I had already connected my headphones to my macbook in the past, it was already saved on "my devices", the first time this problem happened, I had tried to connect them and they had "succesfully" connected but the sound wouldn't come through the headphones, it'd be through the macbook speakers.

I was so confused so I tried "forgetting the device" so that i could pair the headphones to my mac once again but it just completely stopped appearing as an option. It wouldn't even pop up on "nearby devices" which is weird because it does on my phone.

I have tried so many things: restarting my mac, making sure the system was up to date, looking for solutions online and looking at the sound output settings but NOTHING works.

I'm really fustrated because I use my Mac for work and I move aorund a lot so i really really need my headphones to be able to connect to my Macbook and I know my headphones aren't the problem because 1. they connect to my iphone and 2. they use to connect to my macbook too.

I hope there's someone out there that knows how to solve this. :(
