Add map location to contacts on iOS/iPhone

In the old days, when you found a location in Maps on iOS, there was a button to create a new contact. At some point this "disappeared," and since then it seems like the only way to do it is copy and paste one detail at a time to a new contact. It turns out it is still there, it is just deeply buried, and easy to miss - especially on a smaller phone (I have a 12 mini).

Here's how you add a location from Maps to your contacts:

  • Find it
  • Tap the "share" icon (a square with an up-arrow coming out of it)
  • A dialog will appear with recent contacts and apps you can share with
  • Drag this dialog upward, there are more options that may be off the bottom of your screen
  • Select "Create New Contact" (or "Add to Existing Contact")
  • Note: There is also an "Edit Action" link that allows you to customize this menu, including moving one of them to the top so it is easier to see

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 17
