Apple Music opens and auto plays every time I disconnect AirPods from MacBook Pro

Every time I place my AirPods back in their case/disconnect from my MacBook Pro, Apple Music opens and starts playing automatically. This is particularly frustrating if I have music playing on my Sonos system through Apple Music, which then disconnects because music is being played in two locations.

This has been an ongoing problem and it is very annoying. Any suggestions?

Apple Music starts playing when I put my AirPods in or take them out. How do I stop Apple Music from starting automatically when I put my AirPods in or take them out. I see others asking the same question and so far it’s suggests to disable auto connect in the AirPods. But this is not really the problem. The problem is Apple Music starting. How about auto connecting and disconnecting without Apple Music taking over. There lies the issue. I would like my AirPods to connect and then allow me to choose if I’m going to hear music or make a call. And I certainly do not want Apple Music or any other media to start playing through my phone when I remove my AirPods.
