Did you install the latest build from the Microsoft Store, when your previous build was installed using a traditional iTunes64Setup.exe file, or vice versa? These two alternate versions store iOS device backups in different locations. Switching from one to the other can have the impact you discuss. Note iTunes typically keeps one rolling backup per device. You may not have lost as much as you thought. As long as none of your devices needs to be restored right now you can take a new backup of each of them. I would advice backing up to iCloud as well as a computer so you have options should one of the backups not want to restore when the time comes.

This is a user to user support forum. You can contact Apple Support directly via Official Apple Support.

See Archive iPhone backup in Windows - Apple Community for some additional thoughts on iOS device backups. It is possible that one of the many settings files that iTunes relies on is corrupt in some way and that you need to completely delete those files to reset things so that you can take successful backups in future. Before going down that road however you might try reverting to the previous build of iTunes that you had installed in case that sees your existing backup collection. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows Updates - Apple Community for advice on uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. See comments at the very bottom of the page for links to the most recent builds of iTunes.

Hi turingtest2, thankyou for all your help. In the end the only thing that worked for me was to remove itunes from apple and install a fresh copy from Microsoft. Even a fresh install from apple as per your guide still didn't see the backups but would let me make them. Very strange but now with Microsoft version it works again. Thanks again for your help
