Using one time office 2024 on 2 macbooks

I have two macbook airs one a 2021 model the other a 2024. The two are synched and are accessed using the same Apple account and Apple ID.

Currently both are running an old, 2011, version of Microsoft office which now seems to be having some user problems after the latest OS-Sequoia upgrade.

If I make a one off purchase of the recent Microsoft Office 2024 for Macs and install it on one macbook air will it synch and be usable on the other one without having to purchase a second Office suite? When I bought my second (2024) macbok air the 2011 Office suite synched from my older macbook without any problem but Microsoft seem to be insistent that it is not possible to now use a one-off purchase on two devices.

Which is it or do I just by one for one macbook and see what happens?

No Apple device released in 2021 or later can run MS Office 2011 as it is a 32-bit product and macOS Catalina and later require 64-bit applications (e.g. Microsoft 365, Office 2021 for Mac, or Office 2024 for Mac) Very shortly, Microsoft will require Ventura, Sonoma, or Sequoia for installation of any Office product on the Mac.

The single-purchase Office products require one license per seat, so double the cost for a second Mac installation.

You might want to consider purchasing the Mac App Store versions of Office. You can share them on multiple computers. Plus, there are some real, practical benefits to the Mac App Store versions. You can decide when you want to update the apps. (As they are very stable, the answer is virtually never.) The Mac App Store doesn't allow as many background tasks.
