New Apple iPhone 16 pro…apple car play will not work

Worked great on the way to the Verizon store. (2019 Miata ) Nothing now Have tried ALL these ideas….including “forgetting” the car, forced restart, Content and Privacy Restrictions settings double checked, Siri is ON, everything has been tried twice…… NOTHING.

It will connect via Bluetooth, but NO CarPlay. This is known issue. I updated to the 18.01 patch….got nowhere. GIVE US A TIMEFRAME when this will be fixed. SO VERY FRUSTRATING.

I am sorry I upgraded. C’mon Apple. You’re better than this.

You are not speaking to Apple when posting on this user to user community. No one can give you a time frame for a fix that has not been officially confirmed by Apple to be an iOS based issue or iPhone 16 series issue. Not all of us are experiencing issues with CarPlay and the iPhone 16 series devices (works flawlessly as always for me personally 2022 Buick Enclave, iPhone 16 Pro Max, no issues since day 1. Also no issues with any of the other iPhones in the household or in the other vehicles various makes and models. Others have also posted that they aren’t experiencing any issues either).

Although people are posting threads on here about having an issue it doesn’t appear to be widespread (usually when something is you will see it all over the internet including the popular Apple sites that tend to report on everything good and bad). Not to say that those of you experiencing issues don’t matter or anything. But it’s not completely clear what the true cause of the issue is (if it’s iOS 18 since some that have non-iPhone 16 series devices posted they are having issues, if it’s a car head unit issue where a firmware update for those head units need to be released, if it’s car manufacturer specific like the issues with wireless charging after last years iOS 17 release that started with affecting 2 specific brands but affected others after an update to fix it for those vehicles caused an issue for some others, etc).

If you have not already, actually contact Apple Support directly. iOS 18.0.1 never stated anything about CarPlay as an issue it was addressing so there was no expectation that it would be the fix those of you having issues needed. Also check your car radio head unit for any updates (assuming it can receive OTA updates. If not, check to see how or if firmware updates for your radio is ever provided by the manufacturer. Some may require having it done by the service dept if an update is available). Check forums for your vehicle also to see if this is an issue affecting all other owners of your vehicle manufacturer…if it is those forums will definitely have posts showing that. But again, absolutely contact Apple Support directly so troubleshooting can be attempted and so Apple can know how many this issue is truly affecting and if it’s something that they can fix via a software update or whatever other options may be discovered.

Oh…and if you haven’t done this already…if you use a VPN on your iPhone turn it off and see if that helps. For some it did address their issues based on comments by some on the other threads on here.
