Order of Photos when Merging Photo library to iCloud

I used to have multiple Aperture libraries to make sure each are of manageable sizes. They're now converted to Photos libraries.

Now with the larger iCloud storage plans I want to merge all of them. I previously did this once but even though in Photos the order of photos in Recents was correct, they became all jumbled up when merged. Has this now been fixed?

My previous merge was back in macOS Big Sur, and with the remainder of the libraries I'm wondering which version of Photos I should be using to upload and merge them. Release notes seem to not mention this at all, but I prefer my Recents tab to have some semblance of grouping by date, even if imperfect, rather than the completely random mess it is now.

Recents is (was*) a view that showed pictures in the order they were added to the Library. If you select a bunch of pictures to import all a once, especially using a computer with multiple cores, then pictures are processed through different paths for different times and get added in apparently random order.

You don't say what OS you're using., but probably the best way to merge Libraries is to use the trusted 3rd party app PowerPhotos ($30) This has been around (in one form or another) since iPhoto days, and lots of us use it. It will import libraries and maintain the album structure. And it does a lot more.

*Sequoia no longer has "Recents," but Library can be sorted by Date Added.

Recently saved doesn't have iPhone pictures, so that's a bit different:

You can find all the photos you've saved from other apps—like Messages, Safari, and Mail—in the Recently Saved collection. Photos and videos that were sent to you using AirDrop also appear here.

I seem to have screenshots from my phone, but there are no pictures that I took with my iPhone camera. Most of the pictures I take are from my Nikon, so I didn't really notice, at first.

In Recently Shared I see some iPhone pictures, but some I haven't sent. Maybe they were airdropped from my phone to the Mac-- not sure. I'm also not sure what "recent" means-- since I installed Sequoia, I think.

Recently Viewed may also be since Sequoia-- probably it didn't keep track, before.

But the really new thing is that you can sort the Library by "oldest date added." There is no pop-up menu for Library, so you have to do it in View>Sort.
