Not the answer you want to see, but seven years is a long time in the Mac hardware and software world. Backward compatibility tends to be shorter than in the Windows world. If it is important for you to run old software versions on aging hardware, particularly if you are collaborating with others, then you may be better off in the Windows world. Or on the Mac, Microsoft Excel may also have longer backwards compatibility and more robust collaboration features than Numbers. You can find it on the Mac App Store.

This message is correct: you need macOS Sonoma to be able to collaborate in Numbers. Unfortunately, your iMac 2017 is not compatible with macOS Sonoma.
It was working just fine until I updated to the latest version of Ventura. Why the change in the past couple of weeks where it no longer runs on Ventura??? I'm now forced to buy a new computer when my 2017 MacBook Pro is in pristine and perfect condition... smh!!!
