Opening two Numbers files simultaneously on macOS Sequoia 15.2

Can two numbers files be open at the same time using macOS Sequoia 15.2? I have tried to open two similar files to compare them side by side but have not been able to do it.

I open Numbers. Choose and existing file. It opens then I try to open another file and it will not open.

Hi ezslides,

Menu > Window what do you see?

This (Merge All Windows)

Or this (Move Tab to New Window)

Your reply may help us to help you.

Open numbers, select the 1st file that you want to compare. Ok it is open - resize the window and move it to one side of the screen. Next open the other file (the one to compare). It will open in full screen - resize it and move it to the side opposite the first file.

I hope I explained well enough for you. That allowed me to see the files side by side and deal with each individually.

Good luck.

The second file always replaces the first, even though it had been resized, moved to edge of the screen, or even moved to a second space on a second monitor.

There must be something special about the setup on your machine. I'm running Numbers 14.3 on Sequoia 15.3.1 and have no problem opening multiple Numbers documents simultaneously.

Switching off Stage Manager may greatly help with this.

Click on Control Center (top right corner, switches icon), then ensure Stage Manager is off.

This will allow you to rearrange windows more freely. By dragging windows closer to the edge of the screen, they will automatically fill half the screen. You can also click the green bubble button on the window (in the top left) to choose a layout.

Interesting. Stage Manager is off. The choice of setting for "show windows from an application" makes no difference. In Numbers, "Move tab to a new window" only shows up when the second file is opened, and then choosing that does make both files visible at once. It would be nice to have that choice available in the Numbers settings. I thought my app was the most recent at 14.2, but I'll check for an update to see if that helps. (I only got this Mac two weeks ago and assumed it was current when I looked for updates then.)
