iPhone SE: using hearing aids kills the phone microphone and I cannot be heard. Using speaker it works ok. Help.

Starkey Wifi hearing aids work ok but when selected as audio choice, the phone microphone quits working and I cannot be heard by people I called. If I deselect hearing aids as audio, and select "speaker" the mic is OK and people can hear me fine. How can I get the phone mic to work with hearing aids for audio. For six months there was no problem, now suddenly the mic is inop when I listen with hearing aids.?????? Thank you.
