how to return to RCS messaging

When i first updated the software i had RCS messaging but now its sms and i would like to return to using RCS how can i do that?

I have a very important client I text often and I have not been able to text them with IOS 18.0.1 without sending them a text, then clicking the resend as SMS for each text. I finally researched and found this new RCS feature which is working fine on other users, but not on my primary contact. I have disabled RCS in messages globally, and now I can properly text this contact, but need to be able to selectively turn off RCS for specific users. How do I do this?? **. unable to get rcs on ipad Up until I updated to iOS 18 I was able to send and receive messages from android phones on I pad. Not now. Need to get rcs enabled. Checked on utube. Went to apps then messages. No option to switch from sms to rcs. What do I do?

Settings -> Apps -> Messages -> RCS Messaging. Make sure that's turned on. If it is, then you can try toggling it off and back on, but it may be that the person you're trying to message doesn't have RCS support with their cell carrier, or it may be an issue with your own carrier.
