How do we change RCS settings for each user?

How do we change RCS settings per user? I have a very important client I text often and I have not been able to text them with IOS 18.0.1 without sending them a text, then clicking the resend as SMS for each text. I finally researched and found this new RCS feature which is working fine on other users, but not on my primary contact. I have disabled RCS in messages globally, and now I can properly text this contact, but need to be able to selectively turn off RCS for specific users. How do I do this?? **. This affects my MAC OS also, since it does not even give you the option to resend as SMS.

There’s no per-contact setting to fall back from RCS to SMS.

You can suggest that to Apple: Product Feedback - Apple

Might want to suggest to the contact that they’re probably missing incoming texts from others too, and to check with their carrier.

Thank you MrHoffman. I let them know they are likely missing incoming texts. I sent them an article about RCS for the Android platform.

QQQ: Does Apple not monitor this community chat? seems like that should be done with an AI, vs having to enter things 2x...

Apple may or may not read and only rarely replies to postings around here.

As for “AI”, if you want to fill a social media service with content fodder for cheap, or want to provide advertising or propaganda or ilk, or want to bury (“censor”) information, or other similar tasks, then generative text and image generation tools are a valuable part of your strategy. Some other uses are best implemented only with caution and editorial review. Or with great caution, if at all.

Apple has a recently-published technical paper on the limitations of mathematical “reasoning” within large language models, coincidentally.
