purchasing a new printer for my macOS Sequoia 15.0.1

I have a brand new 2024 macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 and need a new printer. I had an HPOffice Jet Pro 8030, and when I try to print from my laptop, it says the printer is unreachable at this time. However, I am able to print from my phone. It's maddening so I am looking at printers to buy.

What do you all suggest?

That HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 printer supports AirPrint, which means vendor drivers (and vendor apps) are not necessary for most operations.

A printer that is unreachable usually means a networking problem with the printer or its Wi-Fi configuration m or something else in the network path between your laptop and the printer. AirPrint avoids getting tied to vendor drivers, and to vendor driver support.

Usual first step with these cases is restarting both the printer and the Wi-Fi router (if this is your Wi-Fi router).

Next step is checking the printer firmware, and applying the latest available. That printer got a firmware update about a month back, too:

Here is the printer manual:

The AirPrint setup info is on page 39, the network setup on page 121, and the firmware update procedure using what HP calls the Embedded Web Server (EWS) is on page 29.

The embedded web server is handy for checking access to the printer too, as you can access that by specifying the IP address of the printer on your local network using Safari. (The .local network name of the printer also works, but you’ll need to set that name in the printer.)
