How do I connect my MacBook Pro late 2011 to my iPad pro 3rd generation?

How do I connect my MacBook pro late 2011 to my ipad pro 3rd generation. The I pad is charging through the cable connected to the mac and it asked for trust, which I did. I still cant either. I have reset trust and locations. The iPad found the Mac and started to charge as soon as I accepted the trust. However I still can not see either.

Try a different cable. The one you have may be charge-only and not capable of carrying data.
