Moving iTunes library

Hi there

please can someone help me- I had my entire physical collection of albums uploaded to iTunes and had no trouble for years. Always made sure it was backed up to iCloud etc. anyway just bought new laptop and downloaded iTunes to new laptop. Plugged phone in and the originally entire iTunes library is nowhere to be found. I authorised the new laptop and entered my apple details. Also found the file called “iTunes-itunes media” and went into new iTunes and uploaded but my main circa 10,000 mb or whatever of my entire original record collection isn’t appearing on my new laptop!!!

what is happening?

thanks

Matt

You say you made sure it was "backed up to iCloud"?

What exactly did you do for this?

iCloud will not backup music at all on its own.

If you are subscribed to Apple Music or iTunes Match, it will match or upload the music to the iCloud music library, but that is not a backup. If you discontinue the subscription the iCloud music library goes away.

If you are subscribed to either service, you can log in with the Apple ID that holds the subscription in the iTunes app for the Music App, and it should restore that library.

or here âžś Use Sync Library with your Apple Music subscription - Apple Support

If you still have the original computer that had these songs, you can migrate them directly from there to the new computer.
