Problem using the Passwords app

The new Passwords app has my password for my Apple.id shown as ‘Compromised’. I have logged into my account and changed the password BUT when I look at the Passwords app it is still shown as ‘Compromised’. Am I doing something wrong?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

James

You need to update the password in the Passwords app too.

Updating the password for your account does not automatically update the Passwords app unless you did it on the Apple ID website, and chose to save the new password there.

Go into the Passwords app tap on "Edit" then tap on the password, and erase the existing one and enter the new one to update it.

Thanks Phil0124, I’ll do that.

I would have thought that Keychain could ‘talk’ to the Passwords app. It seems to me that changing a number of passwords is going to be quite laborious. The Pwned website says “In September 2024, the digital library of internet sites suffered a data breach that exposed 31M records. The breach exposed user records including email addresses, screen names and bcrypt password hashes.

I don’t really understand all that but I think I have to change a few passwords 🤔
