Iphone 16 pro max camera crash issues

I had 16 pro max camera crash issue since I brought it.As days moved on ,it even made my phone shutdown and affected facetime and call even after the software update to iOS 18.0.1. Last day I got it replaced with new one as it was in return period. The new one comes with same issue again the very nextt day.. Only solution to this is to turn off and restart . But its annoying as when we feel to take a video or photo urgently/ quickly it doesnt happen. Does anyone have any other solution?

I have been experiencing this problem many times a day, rebooting my 16 pro for it to work only for a short time. Camera crashes, heating, you name it. It took me a long time to have everything working after the change from my old phone, even recovering a copy so I was not willing to start with a fresh os and download and configure everything, specially when I read that this does not seem to work. But I read that someone tried “resetting all settings” under settings- General - transfer or reset iPhone - reset. I tried that yesterday and it seems to have worked! No issues since! I can open my camera and take pictures now when before it would crash immediately. True I had to install all my cards again in wallet, configure my alarms, notifications, WiFi passwords etc but my watch was still connected, my apps mostly configured… not too bad.

I had similar issues. My newly bought iPhone 16 Pro Max will forcefully lock the screen. It started when I opened the camera app (day 2 of using) and tried to access the photo viewer. After clicking the photo viewer, it automatically locked the screen. It wasn't very pleasant. I restarted and the problem was gone. Until the 5th day of using, where the same issue reappeared. After that, I tried to restart but my phone encountered problems in booting (it stuck in a loop of the Apple logo appearing and disappearing). I connected it to my MacBook and restored it to factory settings. After the first try, it worsened. It forcefully locked now by just opening the camera app. I restored again for the 3rd time but after reinstalling the software, instead of directly opening the camera, I went to the settings>camera and turned off the Macro Control. After that, the issue didn’t appear anymore. I've been using it for more than 24 hours already. Hopefully, the problem will not reappear.

I have the same issue on my iPhone 16 pro with iOS18.0.1. It’s just crash and start over heat. It even have issue with my wireless charging(charging is very slow with battery more than 60%, 2% per hour with Belkin boost charge pro). The only way is to restart it every day which is quite annoying. After I try your solution, reset all setting, the camera crash , over hear, slow wireless charging problems are all gone. It worth a try for who has these problems.

I have 16 pro. Today I was going through some camera settings and changed some. Prior to that my camera was working fine. But after making some changes in camera settings, I was experiencing camera app crash while clicking photos. However video recording was fine.

after reading this post, I reset my system setttings and now photo can be clicked without camera app crashing.

I brought phone on Sept 21 and since that day I had this issue.. I went to Genius Bar appointment twice and called online apple support twice.. All of them worked and couldn’t fix the issue so they exchanged it for another phone and that too had same issue.. Finally I hard reset my phone and rest all settings.. So now last couple of days it seems running well without much issues other than going back to home screen sometimes while using some apps
