Iphone 16 pro max camera crash issues

I had 16 pro max camera crash issue since I brought it.As days moved on ,it even made my phone shutdown and affected facetime and call even after the software update to iOS 18.0.1. Last day I got it replaced with new one as it was in return period.The new one comes with same issue again the very nextt day.. Only solution to this is to turn off and restart . But its annoying as when we feel to take a video or photo urgently/ quickly it doesnt happen. Does anyone have any other solution?

I have been experiencing this problem many times a day, rebooting my 16 pro for it to work only for a short time. Camera crashes, heating, you name it. It took me a long time to have everything working after the change from my old phone, even recovering a copy so I was not willing to start with a fresh os and download and configure everything, specially when I read that this does not seem to work. But I read that someone tried “resetting all settings” under settings- General - transfer or reset iPhone - reset. I tried that yesterday and it seems to have worked! No issues since! I can open my camera and take pictures now when before it would crash immediately. True I had to install all my cards again in wallet, configure my alarms, notifications, WiFi passwords etc but my watch was still connected, my apps mostly configured… not too bad.

I used to record videos a lot and it works normal now.. no background voices or any issues so far after hard reset.

Same problem here ... really frustrating. Glad to read about it as it is software. If 18.1 doesn't fix it (was hoping 18.01 would fix it), will go to Genius Bar.

I find the new shutter button makes it worse.

I escalated this to second line support. It's now a recognized problem. Engineering is investigating but no fix identified (so it won't be fixed in 18.1).

I am now investigating alternative camera apps.

I have the similar issue on my iPhone 16 pro with iOS18.0.1, I took a picture in landscape way, and click the small picture at the corner of camera APP. the picture displayed and a black shade flashing once on screen fast. I went to apple store in Sydney, and tried all 16 pro max. they have the same issues but other models. hope it is fixed next iOS update.

I have the problem with the camera with the IPHONE 16 PRO MAX ON IOS 18.01. When I was trying to take a picture immediately the screen turn off and it restart to Lock Screen. It happened so many times I contacted apple support and they advised me to restart from fabric, I did it. PROBLEM PERSIST! Is a hardware problem, a bug, or iOS problem? This is unacceptable to a brand new phone!

No new software updates or anything known of solving this issue so far?? Still first thing to do in the morning is to power off and on if you need to take a picture or video anytime during day without interruption for a new phone after paying soo much.. What is this??

The same problem when i took a photo of a moon outside with 5x zoom. Suddenly shutdown my camera and never captured anything. I tried again and the same issue. Wtf for a millions iphone they produced we are so lucky to got this system issue. 😬

This is so frustrating.. I did that also a factory reset with my Mac and the problem persists.. I couldn’t use my iPhone to take a picture while I’m talking by the phone, AirPods got disconnected and it lock my phone to the main screen. Can’t believe!

The audio playback keeps cutting in and out, and the navigation directions are frequently interrupted during long drives. Yes the same problem , I visited the store and replaced the device and the new one came with the same problem it shut down when I press capture with a black screen and do not capture any photos

now what to do I have to go again and replace it ?

It's December now and seems this issue is still there. I have just bought a new 16 Pro Max and the camera keeps crashing, especially when I use the new camera button. Any solution to fix it, please?

They advise to reset it with iTunes, like a fabric reset… still didn’t fix the problem! Problem still persist…
