Photos app disappeared, apple directions to restore did not work! Please help
I could not find a way to get app back.

most probably the app is still on your phone, try this:
on your home screen scroll as many times to the left until you see the the App Library
type in “Photos” - you should see the Photos app icon
tap and hold the Photos icon and move it to the home screen and release it
