Can I print from my iPhone to an old ethernet-connected printer?
I have a rock-solid old HP laserjet that is ethernet-connected (it doesn't have wifi). It's connected to my local home network and has an IP address. Works like a charm from my Windows PC and my older Macbook air.
I just installed the HP Smart IOS app on my phone, and it can 'see' the printer; but when I try to print to it, the app wants me to sign in/create an account with HP, which I'm reluctant to do. If the app on the phone can 'see' the printer while I'm at home, why does it want me to create an account / sign in? The wording on the 'sign in' screen says 'Use the HP Smart app to preview and print to your ... printer from anywhere, anytime' - so I can see how this might require an account to work from 'anywhere', but all I want to do is print while at home on my local network. If HP Smart won't do this, are there any apps that will let me print locally without requiring an account / etc?
