Re: My iPhone 13 Pro Photos cannot identify Plants after iOS 18 update

If you haven't already installed it:

The newest iOS update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone

About iOS 18 Updates - Apple Support says iOS18.0.1 is the newest update:

If you are already using iOS18.0.1: You may want to try re-starting your iPhone

(Deletes temporary files, re-establishes connections, may update recent setting changes, etc., and often restores order if something is not working as expected.)

If you still can't ID plants:

Wondering if Apple Support's online article for iOS18 (link below) may be helpful:

Visual Look Up is available on iPhone 13 Pro, and can be used in Photos, Safari, Quick Look, and more.

Use Visual Look Up to identify objects in your photos and videos on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

  1. "Open a photo or image in full screen, or pause a video on any frame.
  2. If the Info button displays a symbol with stars such as or , Visual Look Up is available.
  3. Tap the starred Info button, then tap Look Up at the top of the photo information to view the Visual Look Up results.
  4. Tap to close the Visual Look Up results, then swipe down on the photo or video frame to close the photo information.

Note: " Visual Look Up isn’t available in all regions or languages. See iOS and iPadOS Feature Availability."

Else: If the above method is not working for you:

You may want to send feedback to reach those who work behind-the-scenes at Apple. It won't help you immediately, and they likely won't reply. Yet your feedback will reach those who can make changes in a future update, if others also are experiencing similar issues.
