Can I tell with the serial number of a MacBook Air M3 if it's a new unit or a re-furbished? Arrived today and usually the has been clear sealed materials around the box, and this one isn't. Any thoughts? Thanks :)

Actually, that refers to the model number, not the serial number.
M = New
N = Replacement
F = Refurbished.
Apple no longer packages their products with a clear plastic wrap.
If you ordered directly from Apple as a new unit, it will be a new unit.
I found out on line the if the serial number starts with the letter "F" it's refurbished, and if it starts with "M" it's new....Have you heard that? Thanks
So what you are saying is the "M" in the part number means the product is new, and it just so happens that the serial number just happens to start with an "F" are just a coincidence. To funny. Thanks for your feed back, greatly appreciated. Cheers, Bob
