Can't import photos from iphone to macbook

Hello everyone,

I have a really annoying issue. I can't import photos from my iPhone (15 pro max) to my macbook (M3 pro).

I tried everything. I have not an iCloud for the photos and I used to import them by myself. I thing the issue came up when I changed phone from iPhone 12 to 15. The iCloud (5gb) filled and it stoped syncing. I deactivate it cause I don't want to have photos on the cloud, I even deleted the photos that were synced until I turned off the photos upload on the iCloud.

Now when I plug the phone, I can see the photos at the device, but when I press the import button it stucks and does not import anything, even if I let it for hours. I have many photos and videos and I cant import them.

Any suggestions will be really helpfull!

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.0

Try using the app Image Capture that's in your Applications folder. You may be able to import the pictures to Finder folders and then to Photos.

If that doesn't work, try these things:

  • Restart the computer (of course)
  • Re-start in Safe Mode. This bypasses certain potentially disruptive processes. Safe Mode is different for different computers, so see this:

  • Make a new user and see if the same problem recurs with it
  • Use another library if you have one, or make a small test Library with a few pictures in it and see if the same thing happens. You can create a new Library by closing Photos and then option-clicking on the Photos icon.
  • Rebuild your Photos Library--close Photos and re-launch by option-command-clicking the app icon.

The idea is to find out if the problem is with the Library, with your account, or with caches and login items, and stuff like that. One of these steps may fix the problem, but their failure to work also helps figure out what's happening.
