Images not display in HDR mode anymore since today on Macbook Air

Since today I can't see the HDR effect anymore on still images in Chrome and Preview.app on a Macbook Air. It still works fine when moving the window to the external HDR-supported screen.

Is anyone having the same experience or knows if that was really changed in macOS or Macbook firmware updates since today?

It worked fine a few days ago as the device is in the liste of HDR-supported models: Play HDR video on Mac - Apple Support

Further investigation using *** shows that the HDR headroom is only 1.0 f-stop on the 2020 Macbook Air, so the HDR effect while still visible a bit when setting brightness to half is barely noticeable. While on a newer Macbook Pro the HDR headroom is 2 to 3 f-stops (full down to 1/2 brightness) where it is spectacular and 4 on my external display.

But I'm pretty sure to have seen the effect more prominent a few days ago on the MB Air.
