Find the plugin used in an FCP project that is not install on a different machine

Hi All,

I'm trying to find a solution since... years :D

I have sometime to move FCP project from a machine to an other.

I use lots of plugin, titles, etc... from many sources, Motion Array for ex. and sometime a title effect is not installed on the 2nd machine.

And if it's on project I've not been working on for a while, it is hard to remember "**** ! what was this plugin I've used ???" to install it...

If someone had a clue to analyse a library to tell at least the name of the plugin used, it would be just great ;)

I have tried : X-Library check, but it give useless information like that :

~/Titles.localized/9290B8E6-7D59-41B6-BE61-98B7F716A972.localized/68FCAA55-4A40-4A93-9E73-553610574C0C.localized/68FCAA55-4A40-4A93-9E73-553610574C0C.moti

Many thanks in advance for the help ;)

Thanks for the reply !

I've try this, already ;)

But I just get the name of the instance used, not the pack the plug it come from.

effect id="r2" name="Line Bump" uid="~/Titles.localized/2C1D7812-A281-4503-9CEB-F51BE6E3B113.localized/22D739D0-A87A-4196-AB6B-C1848708F2F5.localized/22D739D0-A87A-4196-AB6B-C1848708F2F5.moti"

This for one exemple, even if this one is much easy to guess ;)

Open the project. Make a note of which clip appears with the missing template sign.
Export xml of the project and search for the clip. You should see the name of the effect.

The name of the title is right there, for example:

name="Line Bump"

Could you not do a search through your usual template providers (rippletraining, motion array, motionvfx, fxfactory or whichever you use)?

FWIW, I don't use a lot of third party templates. I imagine that for someone who does it would be convenient to devise some scheme to know which is which.

Yes, I know the name within the project ;)

But most of the time you have a pack named for ex. "Creative Lower Thirds" and inside every title is named "Title 1, Title 2, etc..." and this the only information FCP gives you.

At least if we could have the path FCP have used to get this plugin, it would be usefull, even if we can rename this folder.

But there is probably a technical reason why it works like this since FCP is FCP ;)

Anyway, I will have to find a way...

Many thanks for trying to help !
