Apple maps documents & data taking up exhorbitant storage space

Iphone12 user here. I am beyond frustrated & confused as to why I am able to delete any app on my phone and its applicable documents & data delete as well BUT the Apple maps app says deleted and yet the documents & app remain as part of the storage. My husband has same phone and his storage is on par with minimal. His phone is 128gb storage. I have 256gb and Maps storage is taking up 6.2 gb space. Mind you, a month ago it was at 4.3gb and now in a moth it is growing steaduly and with NO reason. I have deleted ALL apps and their documents & data all get deleted. When reinstalled, the app is normal with normal "beginning" storage space. This Apple maps WILL NOT DELETE. Everyday the storage INCREASES. I've tried to restart, delete all apps to the point of being empty but I HAVE NOT RESET to factory settings. If that is the solution, please let me know if the latest backup will be able to restore my personal contacts, notes, photos, etc. Other apps that are work related & personal use should work on their own merit.

Things done:

Reset multiple times - too many to count

Deleted unnecessary , non critical apps

Background app refresh off

system services - reviewed but NERVOUS of altering

Sharing location on - not altered - family members on it - need to keep working

Deleted & Reinstalled Google maps - Default map used for navigation

Location Services - reviewed and turned on and off as saw fit

Privacy settings - Reviewed

Maps app - no downloaded maps - never had any

cleared all history

Questions / thoughts

Issue related to Google maps at all?

Issue related to family location shared?

Issue related to having iphone photos location on?

Issue related to "not enough stroage" space? (guilty of this - in process of making room)

This is a glitch that has been affecting a lot of people, please report it as a bug so apple sees it and fixes it. Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Also the current fix is to back up all of your phone’s data to your computer, then factory reset your phone, then load the backup back onto your phone. You’ll have to set up FaceID, your cards in apple wallet, and most likely your Focuses again because those don’t save in the backup for some reason. Also in my experience the glitch will come back anyway a few months after doing all that but that’s the option if you are desperate.
