Why is my Apple Maps taking up 27 GB of storage space?

For some reason, my Apple Maps takes up 27 GB of storage space. I have tried to delete the app, restart my phone, and offload the app. I also made sure there was no offline maps or data downloaded. I also turned it off in my Apple ICloud storage settings. Even when the app is uninstalled it continues to take up more space.

I need to update my phone which will hopefully fix the issue. However, it’s really hard to do that when every time I make space, apple maps takes that space so quickly. Any solutions please? I don’t want to back up and reset my phone.

Try this

Go to:

Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > select Clear History.

After that. Turn your iPhone off, turn it back on - check if that has freed up some space in Apple Maps.
