Apple Mapps takes up too much storage

My apple maps is taking up an obscene amount of storage (73.93 GB). Literally do not understand how since I’ve had downloaded maps i had before deleted for quite some time now. I’ve tried offloading the app and deleting it all together but nothing changes. I saw the only temporary fix is to reset your phone and not use back up but that seems so extreme. Anyone else with the problem?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 18

That does seem like an unusually large amount of data. Are you sure you've actually deleted the app, as opposed to remove the app? When you completely delete the app, it should remove it's data.

Try this:

  1. Hold your finger on the app, then tap remove, then delete and confirm you understand it's data will be gone.
  2. Then Force Restart your iPhone --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support (CA)
  3. Then go to the App Store and redownload the app.
