Why? Because it is not compatible with iOS 16 and higher. You'd have to ask Apple for any official reason more detailed than that. But from what I can see in MacTracker, all iPhones that can run iOS 16 or higher have Neural Engines. Your iPhone 7 Plus does not have one. Those first appeared (in rudimentary form) in the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

In addition, you now need iOS 17.0 or better to run Netflix.

You can only update from an earlier version of iOS to iOS 16 if you have an iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or X.

Any earlier iPhone is not capable of running iOS 16, and will never be offered an update to it.

Any more tecent iPhone will be offered an update to something more recent, without the ability to pick and choose iOS 16 as an intermediate version.

Which iPhone do you have? That will determine whether, and how far, you can update.

  • If you have an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, SE (1st generation), 7, or 7 Plus, then iOS 15 is the end of the line. To run newer versions of iOS, you will need to buy a new iPhone, preferably one compatible with iOS 18.

Re: “I also have this same issues here too I really need help cuz I don’t have any money to get a new iPhone”

If you have updated your iPhone as far as it supports, and that is not far enough, and you are not willing to buy a newer phone, then you will just have to put up with whatever limitations running the old version of iOS implies. Such as not being able to run the Netflix app.

Which iPhone you have determines how far you can update. That is why, when you ask about how to update to a particular version of iOS, which iPhone you have is highly relevant. If the iPhone in question isn't compatible with the version of iOS in question, the answer to "how?" will be "you can't".

You can update an iPhone SE (1st generation) to the latest release of iOS 15. You can't update an iPhone SE (1st generation) to iOS 16, 17, or 18. For the iPhone SE (1st generation), iOS 15 is the end of the line.

If your iPhone SE (1st generation) is not already running the latest release of iOS 15, here is how you get there:

Note that the iPhone SE (1st generation) originally shipped with iOS 9.3. If you are more than a couple of versions behind iOS 15, you may find that to get to iOS 15, you will need the help of a Mac or PC.

• If you have an iPhone 8 or X, you can update to 16.7.10
