"To cast, give Chrome access in system settings." -- which system settings?

Hopefully this has permanently worked for some of you. It now doesn’t work for me again (even having originally fixed the problem and worked…)

I found a new thread where a user simply suggested to download Google chrome beta. I’m able to chromecast via that way!

It worked for me briefly, and then stopped working again. I found a permanent solution however!

Download Google chrome beta! Works perfect for me now. I did have to go back in the settings and toggle some things on etc like we originally tried. But it works for me now!

until now, the only solution I had found that worked was downloading Google chrome beta and using that when needed to chrome cast (which still works as well).

Here's another one. I use TPLink Deco routers. I had "Device Isolation" enabled, with the Mac in it - but not the Chromecast streamer. I turned off this feature, and voila, things began working again.

This: DISABLE this feature flag: chrome://flags/#use-network-framework-for-local-discovery.

Thanks - this worked for me! Everything else failed.

Privacy & Security> Scroll down to Screen & System Audio Recording > Turn off Google Chrome option > Hit restart Chrome

Go back again to Privacy & Security

Click Local Network

Turn on Google Chrome option

Restart Chrome

Go back again to Screen & System Audio Recording

Turn on Chrome again

Restart Chrome

Done

It worked for me

I remember not allowing Google to search device in Local Network after the recent Mac update, maybe that was causing the issue.

I had a similar problem - Casting Tab would work but not the screen.

After suffering for a month found this setting from another forum:

Disable this in Chrome Settings: "Use graphics acceleration when available"

That worked !!

I have been on this forum for months. I have tried everything, from the local networks to deleting and reinstalling Google Chrome, and THIS has been the only thing that has helped me. FINALLY, this was the MOST annoying thing ever has been solved. Thank you, Aprimrose1!!!

Not being able to provide a complete solution to a problem feels utterly pointless. There’s a question, yet no one comes forward to say, “This is the answer.” It seems like the folks at Apple are more focused on figuring out how many centimeters they should shift the iPhone 17’s camera to call it a new model.

exact same issue. Never been an issue before. It JUST happened now, which brought me to this thread. Tried this trick. I too have 5-6 Chrome options that are all toggled.

Did you ever figure it out? I reinstalled everything. Nothing worked!!

I've tried every solution listed below, but nothing has worked. It's been over three months without support from Apple—frustrating.

Devices: MacBook Pro 14" M1, Chromecast (latest version as of Jan 5, 2025).

LOL, this feels so unfair, I can't stand it any longer! Maybe give credits to the original post and not someone who only copied but left out the source (Chromium board)? Merry Xmas!

after updating both and restarting chrome; no joy.

Chrome still no able to cast and Canary able to cast but just casting a black blank screen with audio .

The current public version of Sequoia is 15.2. Update to it and test the Chromecast.

Does the TV set you're using use AirPlay? If so try using that.
