New iPhone 16 pro is locked (read post)

Got a new iPhone 16 pro and I am trying to transfer my old iPhone 14's data. Started the data transfer and my new iPhone 16 pro was forced into a software update ( i had chosen to update later but was then forced). The update said it was installed then I was just stuck waiting for some time maybe 15 mins and nothing on the screen was changing just both of my phones pending. Did the silver bullet reset trick (vup then release vdown then release hold power until the apple appears) and now my new iPhone 16 pro is locked and I can't swipe up to unlock and type in my password.

When I try the 'silver bullet' reset method I can't swipe the shut off option, and when I get through to the apple the problem with the swiping to unlock persists.

very stressful any help is appreciated

I had to do this twice before it started working normally!!

>If you have a Mac/MacBook you can put it into recovery mode and download the software from your Mac

you would reset your phone as normal (vol up, vol down, press & hold power) but you’re going to continue to press down the power button….

once it finally decides to turn off and the Apple logo pops up DONT LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON but plug the phone into your Mac

once the image of the cord & Mac pop up on your phone screen you can let go of the power button and follow the prompts in your Mac to either update or restore the phone.

I was able to resolve the issue by preforming a reset & restore (had to repeat the reset a few times for it to complete successfully) from my Mac. For windows there is an application by apple called "Apple Devices". You should be able to preform the same apple reset opperation.

I haven't tested this method, but it's worth a shot for those without a Apple Store / Mac handy.

it got stuck on the software update u have a HP laptop top and it’s harder to get it to restore mode you have to download apple devices alongside iTunes and then cycle it power up and down and hold power button once Apple sign comes on you have to connect to your laptop directly then it will try to finish downloading update and then it will restore it I’m still waiting on it now but it popped up

I got a replacement issued as after sorting the issue and the phone actually able to be used, when trying to download the software update it was reporting 10 hours for it to download. The Apple technician had run diagnostics and all came back clear but haven’t happy that the update was taking so long, he even plugged in an Ethernet adaptor so the phone was hard wired to the internet and it was the same. So he wiped the phone, and swapped it out for a replacement. So far so good 🤞🏻
