IPad Air 2 - Installation of New Battery

Hello,

Can I pay to have my iPad Air 2 fixed even though it’s now considered a vintage product. The battery doesn’t hold a charge. It needs to be plugged in continuously. The Model Number is A1566 and the Serial Number is D*************. The capacity is 128 GB. A local tech company said they would change the battery but they didn’t want to be held responsible if the iPad broke. They were going to charge me CAD $100. Are you able to confirm if a new battery can be installed by Apple and what it would cost?

Thank you.

You can establish eligibility and cost of a battery replacement in your country/region here:

iPad Repair & Service - Apple Support

You might choose to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad - prior to committing to a battery replacement or other repair:

Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

Devices classified by Apple as "vintage" can be serviced subject to availability only. For devices classified as "obsolete", service/repair is no longer available.

For practical purposes, in lieu of servicing and returning your own iPad, Apple usually exchange the iPad for a renewed/refurbished iPad of the same model and specification. The cost of the exchange is the same as would otherwise be charged for battery replacement.

If you have an active AppleCare+ plan, the cost of repair is reduced to a small excess/deductible fee.

Thanks for your reply, MemerGamer. Yes, London Drugs is apple certified for Apple products in my area. However, I found out they don’t have the parts/battery for repairing my 2015 iPad Air2. Black Apple, also in my area, has the part and is repairing the iPad for CAD$150.00. The tech says it will be as good as new. As you probably know, the new battery should last for quite sometime if the battery is used properly. I’ll have to educate myself on this.
