How can I pair my AirPods with my Mac so they are trackable in Find My?

I have a Mac and Airpods Pro. I want to add the Airpods to my apple id so I can track them in Find My. I DO NOT HAVE AN IPHONE. All the community articles I have come across ask me to just pair with an iphone and it will automatically add to my apple id. So I want to reiterate that I DO NOT HAVE AN IPHONE. Kindly do not redirect me to such an article. If the steps are simple, kindly respond with the steps instead of an article. The articles are very confusing and with my research so far, I'm almost convinced that nobody in the community is admitting that this is not possible. But if it is indeed possible, kindly provide the steps.
