notifications show one at a time when i see my phone

they SLOWLY go by one at a time until they're all shown. what if there are hundreds???

extremely frustrating because it means I literally can't use my phone until all the notifies are done. how on earth did this pas UX testing?

how do i turn that completely off for all apps in one place? i tried turning on "show summary" or "show count". i'm not interested in "scheduling" them or switching "focus". i just want the feature back to the way it was: show them on the lock screen as they come in, and i can use my phone the INSTANT i pick it up!
