It will not let me add my California drivers license to my Apple wallet. When I type in California, the only option is a California MDL pilots license and I just want a plain old drivers license to come up. I’ve talked to Apple support. They told me to update to 18 which I did And it still doesn’t work. Not sure who else is having this problem.

That's it, it's the only choice for California, just go for it. Many people I know have already added their license to the Wallet by selecting "California mDL Pilot"

Sounds like you may not fe updated to the required iOS version on your iPhone. What iOS and what model iPhone are you using?
