Unexpected icon appears in Photos app on macOS 14.5

downloading photo from iCloud to my MacBook so i can edit them..a square appears with 3 lines in it. what does it mean?

Does the square look like this?


This badge overlay is indicating, that Photos has recognized text in the photo and you can copy and paste it or translate it. Just click the badge, then you can click a "Translate" button, if it is present or select and copy the highlighted text.
