Will a 100W PD powered hub plugged into my 2024 MacboookPro hurt the USB bus?

I have a powered hub I use with my old MacBook. The 2024 has Magsafe charging. Can I still use the hub for data even though it's supplying 60W of power?

Using powered hub for Mac Mini M2 I saw a YouTube video that claimed that a hub does not have enough power to run multiple external drives without adding additional power. He claimed it would blow up the ports on the Mac mini. The recommendation was to get a higher powered charger, 45 W or above. When I contacted Quiizlab about that, all they would say was that they had tested up to 20 W. Does anyone else have any more information on this?

USB hub power with magsafe power - safe? Hi, I have just purchased a macbook m4 max and have a wavlink usb hub connected for 2 displays, 2 hard drives, music MIDI instruments and bluetooth mouse dongle connected to it. The hub works fine and is powering the macbook with 100watts of power delivery, but when I plug in the magsafe charger, the laptop crashes and restarts. I assume this is too much power going into the laptop that's causing the problem Is it safe to just run the laptop with with the power delivery from the hub? Will it damage the laptops battery/power system over time? Is there any way that I can have the hub plugged in, and the magsafe charger plugged in at the same time? Thanks for your help - obviously I'm very cautious about causing any damage to the laptop but really rely on having the hub to run all the equipment needed in my music studio.

Can you replace the MagSafe power on a MacBook Pro M1 with a USB C charger using one of the USB C ports? I'd like to upgrade my passive hub with a powered hub to supply power to external disk drives for TimeMachine. Seems any hub that has power assumes you have a MacBook Pro that doesn't use the MagSafe.

It'll be fine. A 2024 MacBook Pro can accept a charge either via the MagSafe port or via the Thunderbolt/USB-C ports, so even if you connect one of the hub's powered ports, which would be unusual with any USB hub I'm familiar with, it wouldn't hurt the Mac.

Thanks! It's an old powered hub I used for my 2017 MacBook to free up a data port.
