So i have just upgraded from an iphone 12 pro max to an iphone 16 pro max. I want to erase the iphone 12 as all my information and everything is done transferring to my new iphone 16. I don’t know what the difference is keeping the esim on my iphone 12 or erasing it. Will it affect my iphone 16?

If you are transferring your cell service from the iPhone 12 to the 16 Pro, you would want to use the option to erase not only the data on the phone but also the eSIM info when you follow the instructions in the Apple Support document linked below.

If you traded in your iPhone 12 for the iPhone 16 Pro max the e-sim will be on your iPhone 16 pro max.
if you didn’t trade in your iPhone 12 then it will not effect you iPhone 16 pro max.
