Unable to turn off Face ID required to open safari

A few weeks ago I got a promotion asking if I wanted to turn on Face ID for safari, and I said yes, thinking that I could turn it off if it was annoying. It is annoying, and takes a few seconds to authenticate when I open a browser, or even worse when I need to enter my pin. I’ve tried to turn it off but I can’t, and neither can Apple support. I’ve found the option for Face ID for private browsing but this is all browsing. It’s really frustrating, my advice to anyone else who gets that prompt is say no!

iPhone 14, iOS 18
