Login issues with new Mac after migrating data

Used Migration tool to Migrate from Mac mini (2022) to Mac Studio (2023). Migration was successful. did not not the replace or keep option for migrated admin user. I assume the new Mac takes on the old user and account. In any case, none of my verified passwords will work on new Mac. My account is locked out for two hours - so no need to rush - I am typing this pin my old mac


How do I reset the user password on new Mac -(Which was previously being used prior to migration). The user names on each system were no identical unless they are not case sensitive. I'd just like to unlock the computer or do I just remove new Mac from my account and start over.??

Sounds like part of your problem, is that you setup the new Mac and then migrated from the old Mac.


The preferred way, is to migrate from from the old Mac during the initial setup of the new Mac.

Now what you have, is two user accounts on the new Mac with different passwords.


Once you get past the login password issue.

Then you can share or merge the User data in the different accounts.
