New eMail problems on Apple Mail

I was finally able to set up a new email account on Spectrum that works great there but doesn't go through Webmail.

Used System Settings > Internet accounts and set up in Apple Mail but it keeps saying "unable verify account". and yes, the WiFi is on. When I open mail and click on the very faint triangle it tells me "unable to connect throug the default ports."

I remember something way back in '05 when I set up this cable that there was something about the port assignments being different on mail and on, Back then it was, Time Warner and someone, not sure if apple or TM talked me through how to get to the port settings but that went out my memory window a long time ago.

Can anyone tell me how to get to those settings?

Clear up some confusion - this note has nothing to do with the other email problem as it is on Big Sur.

Guess there is not way to find those port number on Mail to do this finish this new account.

I would wonder if it being an IMAP account while my other two are POP accounts has anything to do with it but doubt it since I have a Gmail account that is running good.

When I added this a notice pops up "unable to verify account or password." at another time there was a notice about 'cannot connect on default ports'.

THIS IS WHY I am trying to find out how to locate the ports to see if they are the same as what was given me.

I remember this exact same thing happenedwhen I first started on Spectrum, then Time Warner, in 05 but it was resolved by the one man at TW who also has a Mac and encountered the same problem. Ofcourse the problem back then was that I wanted to use POP instead of IMAP account as they insist this new one to be.

Thie is the problem as I NEED to change that on Apple Mail.

Finally found out what is happening and it is BOTH Apples and Spectrums problem.

It is Apples because there is no way to adjust the ports to reflect a possible use change. Apple designates and sets it in stone.

It is Spectrum's problem because they are centralized on Mickeysoft and not programming to meet Apples' conditions.

At least that is how I see it. So, one or the other has to do something so that they match. And, I do not even know if they are the same for IMAP and POP accounts, I have both BUT it is the IMAP accounts that do not work.

Can anyone tell me what ports Apple assigns to those two types of accounts?
