Unable to move apps into a Group on my iPhone Home Screen

I have a group of app icons on the first page of my Home Screen. This group I've labeled "Bank," and it includes apps for my bank and credit cards. I've recently added another bank app, which appears on the second Home Screen page. I've tried many times to drag that icon into the Bank group, but to no avail. Here's what happens every time I've tried—

  • I press and hold the new bank icon, and the icons all start to wiggle.
  • I touch and slide the new bank icon into the group icon, but the group icon just moves out of the way?

What's happening here, and how do I fix it?

Apple's term for what you call a group icon is a "folder". I've experienced the same issue as you describe and have found I can eventually get it to work by trying repeatedly. I've only experienced the issue when the folder is at the right or left edge of the screen. Sometimes I first move the folder to one of the two middle positions in a row, then add the app to the folder and then move the folder back to where it was. The issue seems much less likely to happen when the folder isn't at the right or left edge.
