i have recently got given 3 apple tv Gen 2s with no cables or remotes, they have all bren reset (im guessing) and i have the correct cables as its generic. but i can not use them since there is no remote. cant use phone as i cant setup wifi, etc, i knoe there are 3rd party remotes but would they just connect? theres no physical pair button so im just curious if they will just automatically pair. many thanks

Some unofficial imitation remotes may work as well.
The remote linking to the box should be automatic for reset devices, and can be done manually with a remote button combination.

Do both steps, the unlinking and then the linking (with the same remote).
Apple Remote (aluminum or white)
1. Unlink your Apple Remote from your Apple TV. On your Apple Remote, hold down Menu and the Left arrow for six seconds. Then on your Apple TV, look for Unlinkabove an icon of a remote.
2. Link your Apple Remote to your Apple TV. On your Apple Remote, hold down Menu and Right for six seconds. Then on your Apple TV, look for Linkabove an icon of a remote.
