Why is my Magic Mouse so erratic on my iMac?

I am using an Apple bluetooth magic mouse on a 20,1 iMac running Sequoia 15.0.1. When I use the mouse it is very erratic and nearly impossible to land the cursor on a specific spot. I have gone to settings and adjusted the mouse speed down to the lowest position. This has helped a very small amount and I now need to move the mouse nearly two feet on my desktop to move the cursor the with of a letter sized page. In general it appears that the magic mouse is not compatible with my iMac. Are there any solutions other than going out and purchasing a new mouse?

Re: How to fix Bluetooth Mouse issues on macOS 15.1 and found messing around with the mouse and trackpad settings actually fixed my issue temporarily... today it started jumping on me again, so I messed with the settings again hoping to get the fix to work again. In the attached link, someone mentioned removing the trackpad features entirely to eliminate a possible conflict with the louse. I started out doing that but then turned them right back back on because I use mine too much, and after that and messing around with natural scrolling (turning off and on), and adjusting some other settings on both, both mice started working perfectly! I've had this issue for several months (well before sequoia) and that was the first time both my Magic Mouse 2 from 2022 and Magic Mouse from 2023 worked properly in a very long time.

I have tried a sheet of paper but the paper moves on my smooth top desk. Even if I tape the paper down the cursor literally jumps all over the place. I have an identical Apple mouse and the results are the same. I have purchased a new mouse pad from Walmart and that was no help either.
