The SMC is responsible for managing power on your Mac. Resetting it can resolve certain uncommon issues related to power or thermal management.

Resetting the SMC may be suggested for Intel-based Mac computers as a final step to resolve issues that could be power related:

•Battery isn't charging

•Mac isn't turning on

•Fans are running fast

•Mac laptop computer gets too warm

•Built-in camera isn't working

If your Mac is experiencing one of these issues, follow the steps appropriate for your Mac model:

They were good steps to try ... maybe trying a different wall-outlet too may be worthwhile, in case one is faulty.

Also, try plugging charger in to a different port on the Mac ... maybe a speck of dirt blocking, or port is worn.

There are various possible reasons why your Mac may be not turning on, so it isn't easy to guess what the solution may be. Wondering what was happening last time you used your Mac ok ... ie: just before it ran out of charge ?

Eg:: Could have been updating OS, or downloading a large movie file, and / or

Mac may be out of memory / storage space:

eg: A Mac generally needs around 50Gb free at least, in in which to operate smoothly.

Else: The MacOS version installed may or may not be up-to-date with the newest compatible version.

Unnecessary third-party (non-Apple) apps like virus checkers, ad-blockers, cleaners and the like may be installed and be causing issues ,.. even VPN can cause issues... or one or more necessary third-party apps installed may be no longer compatible, they can cause issues unless they are kept up-to-date.
